Our health, to a large extent, is determined not just by the foods we eat but what we are able to digest and absorb. Science is now proving that poor gut health contributes to obesity, mood (anxiety and depression) and poor immune
function and the link is due to the different types of bacteria that reside in the gut known as the microbiome.
The diversity and levels of beneficial bacteria can be affected by the types of foods we eat, medications, stress, alcohol and lack of exercise. According to a recent CSIRO report 1 in 7 Australians are experiencing digestive distress, and symptoms are sign of imbalance.
The aim of this workshop is to help you understand how the microbiome affects health (including mood) and the latest testing methods used to examine the microbiome. Recommendations will be given on specific foods to include in your diet that will improve the health of your gut
and how you can incorporate this in your daily life.
