Be Prepared: Bikram Yoga/Inferno Hot Pilates

Bikram Yoga
It is nothing like you have ever experienced before. Bikram Yoga is an intense, awesome, full-body workout. Have no expectations, do the best you can. The room is heated to 40°C, continuously during the class session. Classes last for 90 minutes so be prepared to sweat and work hard. Soon you will be doing things you never thought possible.

Inferno Hot Pilates

Using Pilates prin­ci­ples, Hot Pilates class is a chal­leng­ing, full-body, low impact, high inten­sity 60-minute work­out. It is per­formed on a yoga mat in a room heated to 40°C and 40% humidity continuously. Hot Pilates strength­ens mus­cles and burns fat — all with­out the pound­ing of a high impact work­out. It is designed for all fit­ness levels.

 

There are a few things you'll need to know before you come to your first class.

 

Bring:

  • big towel (one that can cover your mat)

  • water

  • smile

  • wear something you are prepared to sweat in.

  • yoga mat

 

Do:

  • no eating 2-3 hours prior to class.

  • enjoy yourself

  • let go of your stress

  • enjoy the feeling of accomplishment and wellbeing when you finish the class

Be Prepared: Core Flow

A 60-minute flow class focusing on strength, flexibility, endurance, and body stability. A great way to strengthen your body, mind and connection to breath. Suitable for all fitness levels.

 

Available at Modbury and Glenelg studios. 

Bring:

  • Yoga mat

  • Towel (if you wish)

  • Water

Be Prepared: Yin Yoga

A relaxing slow-paced 60-minute class that incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine. This class targets deep connective tissues in the body by holding postures for longer periods of time (3-5 minutes).

Bring:

  • Yoga mat

  • Any other props that you wish: towels, bolsters, blocks for support

  • Water

Benefits:

  • Improves flexibility

  • Strengthens the immune system

  • Balances a yang yoga practice

  • Teaches physical relaxation and stillness

  • Promotes organ health

  • Heals imbalances in the energetic body

  • Removes blockages of Chi

  • Improves mental ease and stillness

  • Enhances clarity of the mind

Benefits of regular practice

 

Everyone is different with different levels of fitness. It may be you have an injury or are feeling overwhelmed while getting acclimatised to the heat and learning the postures. Have an open mind and heart and trust the process. You will not be disappointed!

 

The body is self-regulating and self-adjusting. A regular practice will:

  • Burns fat

  • Regulate hormones levels

  • Supply oxygen and nutrients to parts of the body that have been blocked or stagnant
